The Assistant Broker, Candidate Broker, and Registered Broker: Who Can Do What?
There are various roles within the Dutch real estate sector, such as Assistant Broker (A-RMT), Candidate Broker (K-RMT), and Registered Broker (RM), each with specific responsibilities. Essentially, anyone without formal qualifications can call themselves a broker and engage in selling, buying, and renting properties. However, there is one exception: if you work for a real estate office affiliated with the NVM, a branch organization.
At the NVM, a competency framework applies that determines what type of broker is authorized to perform specific tasks.
In the competency framework below, you can see exactly what each type of broker at an NVM-affiliated office is allowed to do:
